Economic Development - Regional Profile
Industrial park | Erin Systems located in the industrial park |
The industrial park and sea port, combined to the tourism industry and presence of small to medium-size businesses, are essential for Caraquet's economic development. Our industrial park was rated A by the province of New Brunswick because of its accommodation capacity and the services it offers. It is the only park in the Acadian Peninsula to get this rating. It has all the characteristics needed to accommodate companies working in different lines of business.

Our sea port is a facility that has an important economic impact on the community. Did you know that the wharf of Caraquet was one of the first in Canada to be managed by a port authority responsible for the site's administration with reference to its development, management of users' services and docking costs? The port committee, made up of business people, sees to it that all the users (plant owners, captain-owners of fishing boats, boaters) receive the appropriate services. You should know that Caraquet's port area consolidates a very important industry where inshore, midshore and offshore fishermen, live in harmony with the School of Fisheries of New Brunwick, a body of the New Brunswick Community College, Acadian Peninsula campus. The processing plants and boaters use the launching ramp during the Summer.
